God wants to connect to you. Do you know that? He wants to have a relationship with you. He desires to communicate with you. This isn't something He takes lightly either; He wants this connection with you so much, that He was willing to send Jesus to this earth to die for you, that by the shedding of His blood, you can be brought close to Him.
But, what does this connection entail? Why should we care about it today? Well, in the Old Testament, there were many ways the people could connect to God. But, there was one place in particular called Bethel where the people could go to hear from God. It was a glorious place. What would you give today to hear from God audibly or even see Him face to face?
We're offered all this and much more through Jesus, who is the New Bethel. He is not only a greater connection to God; He's the only connection we can have to God today.
