The Sound of Truth

Nov 25, 2017

“It’s better to give than receive,” goes the old saying. It’s true, too. Giving is its own reward; its own blessing. Yet, so many people struggle to give. They are consumed with self, thinking their needs and their problems are greater and more important, so they ignore the plight of others.

Of course, there are also those who struggle to be on the receiving end. Sometimes, it’s a matter of pride. They think they’re better than the person who wants to help, so they won’t allow them to do so. Or, they think they don’t need the help, that they can solve the problem on their own.

In all actuality, both giving and receiving are Biblical concepts that we must learn to practice within our own lives to become more like Jesus. Even Jesus was willing to give and receive, practicing more humility as the KING of kings and LORD of lords than what we can muster as mere human beings.

In this episode, we’ll be looking at Philippians 4:9-20 and learning how the Philippian church gave to the Apostle Paul in an hour of great need, and how Paul freely accepted that help as a gift from God.
