The Sound of Truth

Aug 12, 2017

Sheep are pretty easy to tell apart from goats today. One is white and fluffy and the other is an incredibly nasty, stubborn animal that will headbutt you if you get too close, possibly personifying evil incarnate. However, in the past, the two animals appeared very similar and only a good shepherd could separate his sheep from the goats.

In the church world today, there are a lot of people who look like Christians, they talk like Christians, and it seems like they should be Christians. But, when it comes down to it, many of them are practicing a vain religion. They don't really know Christ and they are not really being doers of His Word.

In Matthew 25, Jesus promises us that one day, on the day of judgment, He will separate His people as a shepherd once separated his sheep from the goats. The sheep will go to everlasting life while the goats will go to everlasting punishment. So, before Jesus starts separating us Himself, and it is too late for many to repent, we are going to try to discern for ourselves the differences between the sheep and the goats so that we can begin to separate ourselves and make sure that Jesus truly is our Shepherd.
