The Sound of Truth

May 12, 2018

The Bible is more than just a life manual - it is the Living, Inspired, Holy Word of God. The Scriptures reveal to us our need for salvation and the way to salvation (through Jesus alone). The Bible tells us who God is, who Jesus is, who the Holy Spirit is. Without the Bible, the Gospel of Jesus would be unknown to us, or at the very least, we'd have a confused version of it due to passing it down through the years verbally.

Yet, the Bible is also full of instructions on how to live our lives as Christians - how to be holy as God is holy. But, while we struggle with many of the instructions brought to us, one we all seem to struggle with more than any other is speaking the right way. Even after we're saved, many of us struggle with our speech being holy. We struggle to tame the tongue. And, yet, if Jesus says it is out of the abundance of the heart that a man speaks, and if we are Christians filled with the Spirit of God, then shouldn't our speech be holy, full of light, sprinkled with salt?

We are looking at James 3 to try and find out why we should desire to speak holy and how we can attain the holy standard.
