Does your God exist? That may sound like a patronizing or polarizing question, but it is a serious question that we are asking this week all the same. Does your God exist? In other words, are you serving the one true God of the Bible or have you created your own god based off of emotions?
The Jewish people did this in the wilderness as they were being led to the promised land. Moses, their leader, had gone away for a few days to speak with God. While he was gone, the people got tired of waiting. Devising a god of their own making, they created a golden calf to fall down and worship.
Today, we may not create golden calves or idols to worship, but every time we project our own opinions or emotions on to God, we end up creating gods that only exist in our minds.
This may be hard for us to be honest about, but we seek to discover this week whether or not we are serving the one true God or just a god of our own making.
