The Sound of Truth

May 6, 2017

If your friends jumped off of a bridge, would you do it too? I wonder how many parents have had to ask that question over the years, hoping and praying their children were smart enough to not jump. We want children to be independent thinkers. As they grow older, we want them to be leaders, rather than being the led. To an extent, we probably would rather think of ourselves as leaders instead of followers.

All of that is kind of thrown out the window this week as we talk about the need to take leaps of faith when we follow after Jesus. If He tells us to go give money to that person over there, we should be obedient. If He wants us to go share the Gospel with that stranger, we need to do as He says. And, if He tells us to jump off that bridge, we best jump.

We will be looking at the story of David vs. Goliath to see an incredible example of love and trust in God, as well as one of the greatest leaps of faith recorded in Scripture.
