Do you love me? It sounds like a silly question, depending on whose asking it. If I were to ask you that question personally, it would probably make you feel a little awkward, a bit embarrassed. You probably wouldn't know if I was being serious, or how to answer - nor would you want to.
However, what if Jesus were to suddenly stand before you and ask the same question. Do you love me? I wonder if it would still be just as awkward to answer. I wonder if we would be ashamed to answer. I wonder if we would be honest.
You may think its a hypothetical question, but its actually quite serious. Peter was asked this question three times in John 21:15-19. Do you love Jesus? You need to be honest in your answer. You may think it to be an awkward question, you may not particularly like it, but you need to answer it.
